While you can and should call female characters your special little guys I was vaguely annoyed today there is no easy feminine equivalent to the term. The equally fun snappy equivalent of guy is "girl" but "little girl" has very different connotations from little guy. Gal is a slightly better substitute but "little gal" just does not hit the same way. A more sophisticated language adjustment is needed.

Therefore I propose: girlie. Similar diminutive connotations, phonetically whimsical, as well as appropiately silly. Can and should also be used regardless of charcter gender.
